One of the side effects of the pandemic is that suddenly, there isn’t as much of a reason to take PTO. A couple weeks ago I was supposed to have taken a week off for spring break. We were going to visit my parents and go to Disney. Obviously that was cancelled. I also had plans to go skiing that were cancelled. There were trips planned to Chicago for weddings and conferences too. Eventually this will all end and I won’t be able to use up all that PTO (not that I usually do) so I decided to take a day off today, just for a mental health break.

I had big plans. I was going to spend the day brewing beer since I still had help in the morning. The problem with that idea was that all of my equipment was not remotely ready and I didn’t want to first clean everything and THEN start brewing. I wanted today to be relaxing. I had also been hoping to do a nice long bike ride in the morning but unfortunately some big storms rolled in which put an end to that idea.

It wasn’t a total loss though. I did a nice long trainer ride and watched 2 1/2 episodes of Clone Wars while I did it. I never watched it when it originally came out and always meant to so with Disney+ it’s time to catch up! And that was really it. I mostly kept away from work other than a few phone calls and some emails. I only spent about an hour and a half working today and it was all by choice so it was very low stress. And I did clean and inventory all of my brew equipment so that I’ll be ready to go on Saturday.
